What do students learn?
At Palmer students taking French in grade 8-12 work on these four topics, listening, speaking, reading and writing. As the grades go up, students will have go into a much deeper understanding of these four topics.

In grade 8-9, students are just starting to develop on these four topics.
Listening and Speaking: Students listen to spoken texts, take part in short conversations, and ask and answer questions using full sentences.
Reading and Writing: Students read to understand main ideas and write short texts about familiar topics. They also learn to revise and edit their writing.
Grammar and Vocabulary: Students review basic sentence structures, subject pronouns, the present tense, and irregular verbs. They also learn new words related to different themes.
In grade 10-12, students go further into understanding the French language.
Listening, understanding spoken French in various situations, from casual conversations to media like films and music.
Speaking, participating in a variety of activities such as oral presentations, skits, and general conversations on specific topics.
Reading and interpreting a wide range of authentic materials, such as novels, poetry, and informational texts, to build vocabulary and understanding of language conventions.
Writing, applying a variety of writing styles and conventions to express ideas, such as writing creative pieces, essays, letters, and research projects.
