What do students learn?
At Palmer, students focus on a variety of topics, history, geography, civics, and economics. These are the main topics that will be learned in class. However, every teacher has there own projects and activities that they want to teach to the students. (more information on Who are the teachers? page) As the grade goes up, students will be discovering more about these topics.

In grade 8, students study how interactions between people, disagreements, and the environment led to important cultural, social, and political changes from the 7th century to the 1750s. Students explore these main ideas by looking closely at the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
In grade 9, Social Studies will look into Western civilization from the 1600s to the 1800s, with a focus on Canada before Confederation. It covers major political, social, economic, and technological changes. It also explains how imperialism and colonialism have continued to affect Indigenous peoples, as well as major population changes around the world. Students will study how nationalism and conflict helped shape modern countries. The geography part includes Canada’s natural land features and the geological processes that formed them.
